Polycon is the pioneer of advanced polymer lining solutions for various industries in UAE.  We serve the oil and gas, industrial, chemical and public utility sectors, using the latest technology to extend the life of critical infrastructure.

One of our key solutions is rotational lining. This process improves the asset’s performance and offers strong protection against corrosion, abrasion, and chemical damage. Here’s how Polycon’s rotational lining works and how it helps pipelines last longer and run more efficiently.

What is Rotolining / Rotational Lining?

Rotational lining, or rotolining, is a process that coats the interior of metal structures with a smooth layer of polymer, regardless of their shape or size. This lining helps protect your assets from damage caused by chemicals, corrosion, and abrasion over time.

The Process:

The initial step in creating a polymer-lined structure is abrasive blast cleaning insides to a near white metal finish. This allows the polymer to adhere well to the inside of the structure during the lining/bonding process.

The pipe is then placed on a rotisserie-type machine, where it is rotated in Bi-axial directions, and granular thermoplastic resin is added to its interior. All openings are sealed to prevent resin from leaking out during lining application.

After lining the inside of the structure with resin, the structure is placed in an oven. During this heating process, the resin melts and spreads evenly throughout the interior, sticking to its inner surface.

Once a uniform lining has been achieved, the structure is cooled, causing the resin to harden. This creates a smooth, durable polymer lining that provides long-term corrosion and chemical protection.

In the end, the lining forms a seamless layer that resists corrosion and chemical attack. It can fit complex shapes and helps avoid weak spots.

Advantages of Rotolining

Rotolining comes with several advantages. An efficient alternative to traditional pipeline protection, the process is durable, cost-effective, and can be extended to other infrastructure as well. A seamless polymer barrier forms to protect the interior of the pipes from corrosion, helping them last longer. The lining also works well in high-friction environments, preventing erosion and micro-pitting. It bestows the structure with the ability to withstand harsh chemicals while also protecting it against damage, Rotolining can be applied to the most complex shapes, reducing operating costs and downtimes.
